Leader in Television Broadcasting

Bangkok Broadcasting & Television Company Limited was established in 1967 to operate television broadcasting under license from Royal Thai Army. Popularly known as Channel 7, it was the first station to transmit color television in Southeast Asian region. Since then, Channel 7 has unfailingly served the general public with information and entertainment programs. In 1973, Channel 7 installed its first ground network station in the province and expanded the facility to comprise 34 stations to date, obtaining whole country coverage including viewers on the border regions of neighboring countries.

Leader in Satellite Broadcast

Channel 7 was the first Thai television to enter the satellite age by linking up with signal channel of Indonesia’s PALAPA satellite. The satellite linkup enabled simulteneous reception over the whole of Thailand. Via Intelsat, television airing from all over the world is transmitted through Channel 7’s local ground network station . To televise important regional events, Channel 7 uses Outside Broadcasting Vans (O.B. Vans) as temporary host stations. In case of outside reporting, a more compact broadcasting equipment using higher frequency on Ku Band which communicated directly with satellite gives our audience on-the-spot images and information.

To better cover remote areas, Channel 7 has planned to increase the number of network stations to 37 by the year 2000. And as a leading provider of television service, Channel 7 aims at informing, educating and entertaining Thai people in all areas of the country.

Leader in informing the People

In realizing the importance of the rural and remote regions of Thailand, and to facilitate two-way information flow between the urban and rural areas, Channel 7 has set up Regional News Centers with modern broadcasting equipment all over the country. Local and regional news and events are sent from nine such Centers, situated in Khonkhen, Nakorn Rajasima, Ubol Rajathani, Chiangmai, Nakorn Sawan, Hatyai, Surat Thani, Puket, and Rayong. Regional centers at Nakorn Rajasima, Chiangmai, Hatyai, and Rayong act as Channel 7’s main regional news centers where a team of reporters, announcers, and a broadcast studio are ready on a daily basis to report regional events.

Entering the new millenium and taking up the challenge of change, Channel 7 has never ceased to acquire new broadcasting technology. People at Channel 7 are well trained in television broadcasting.

To satisfy target audience, in addition to network stations Channel 7’s O.B. vans have been regularly assigned on locations; and smaller vans equipped with Ku-Band facility can access difficult terrains all over the country, sending images and reporting events when and where they happen.
